About Tara
A Decade of Dedicated Service
Tara Mosley Weems, known throughout the community simply as TARA, has dedicated her life to serving the people of Akron through public service, neighborhood advocacy, and community leadership.
Tara served 10 years on Akron City Council representing Ward 5, where she became known as a strong voice for neighborhoods, families, seniors, and working people. During her time on Council, she championed legislation focused on housing protections, public safety, government transparency, and neighborhood investment.
She also fought for initiatives supporting the CROWN Act, stronger accountability measures, youth programs, and improvements to parks and community spaces.
Founder of B&V Family Community Resource House
Beyond City Hall, Tara is the Founder and Executive Director of B&V Family Community Resource House, where she has worked directly with families facing hardship.
Through B&V, Tara provides:
- → Food assistance for families in need
- → Clothing resources for adults and children
- → Youth mentoring programs
- → Housing support and counseling
- → Community outreach services
